NEW WRITER'S PAGE
Attention Writers: Your Story Could Become a
Talking Puzzle! See Information Below.
We would like to publish (FREE) the creative writing of home-schooled children
This page of our website has been created for the use of home-school families as part of their Language Arts/Creative Writing/Journalism Classes. We wish to inspire, encourage and help children to create and write stories of their own, including true events, fantasies, humorous or historical stories, poetry, etc. all from their own imagination or research.
Here's how it will work:
Step 1 Before starting, we suggest your child complete 6 or more of our Talking Puzzles so they are very familiar with the concept.
Step 2 Any child of writing age (not dictated to a parent - we suggest grades 3 and up) can send us an original story they have written about any subject, typed, to our email (Talkingpuzzles@gmail.com). Stories should be short (Maximum 500 words) and can be accompanied with original illustrations, if desired. Story should have a title, name and age of author and email address, and be typed on one standard page. They can also submit a photo/drawing or two.
Step 3 We will critique it and possibly return some suggestions, in which case the child can re-write and re-submit it. We will then publish it on this website for others to read.
Step 4 We will create a page for each family, or for each homeschool group from which we get submissions, and we will publish your story on that page for others to read and enjoy. Stories will be listed in order by the dates they were submitted.
Step 5 If we feel a story may be worth putting into one of our puzzles, we will instruct the author/writer as to how to 'condense' their story into a 'narrative' that will fit into a 324 space Talking Puzzle, and work with them to accomplish this. Should the writer desire, we may even challenge them to try to fit their narrative into one of our grids (very difficult - I can only do it with God's help).
Step 6 When we produce their puzzle, to be included in our puzzle inventory, they will be credited as the writer of that puzzle and can be recognized by all who view or download it.
